April 22nd, 2009I remember when the large tree that borders the left-hand side of front yard flowered last year, I thought its blooms looked exactly like fried eggs. So it is no wonder at all that Franklinia axillaris (previously known as Gordonia axillaris) is commonly called ‘Fried Egg Plant’. They resemble camellias and belong to the same family: Theaceae. This evergreen plant flowers through from Autumn to Spring.
