May 31st, 2009It’s our friend, Lucas’s, birthday tomorrow. Lucas and Lizzie decided to take a short break this weekend and come down the coast. We promised them a Japanese meal ever since we returned from Tokyo so tonight seemed a fitting ocassion.
For starters, we had tempura prawns, pumpkin, spring onions and carrot fritters, and Sydney rock oysters (which our guests brought down from Faros brothers in Sydenham). For mains, I concocted a number of dishes: snapper rice, tofu, grilled eggplant with miso, beans and carros with seasame sauce, salad, and miso soup. The food was consumed with the company of the Sawai Sake from Mitake Vallye of Western Tokyo.
After the feast, we took a walk to the beach on a unexpectedly warm night, picking through the roadside collection along the way.
