Still life | Moving Fragments: composit test with objects

May 8th, 2011

This is a composit test video for a series of moving still lifes as part of a collaborative project Still Life | Moving Fragments with Louise Curham.

Working with the idea of still life, this test piece uses an object (a bowl) as the central focus. The object becomes the place where different atmospheric events occur. The bowl is hand-made and is chosen because it is uneveness (that is: it is not uniform on all sides).

The changes in the lighting are as it was recorded on the day. No manipulation was carried on the background footage.

The timing is rough in the piece. The composit shows that masking needs to be refined (for example, the dark shadow of the bowl needs to ‘sit’ above the rain on the table cloth).
