White dew: flocks of birds gather grain (2 of 5)

This teaching semester welcomes me with three 8.30am classes. I have always felt disadvantaged from having a body clock that is 2 hours behind that of the ‘normal’ working day. No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to adjust this 2-hour lag. Returning from slumberland in time for work is the main achievement of the day.

In recent weeks, just before my alarm goes off at 6.45am, huge flocks of sulphur-crested cockatoos fly over the house making their normal loud racket. The keenness of these birds to greet the day seems to be an effective way of making me to do the same.
