Seasonal Almanac

Today Farmer Red gave me the job of tilling the soil in the vegetable patch (in preparation for making the new raised beds). I found both the idea and the job appealing. One approaches the job methdologically and the process itself is very enjoyable. The patch is roughly rectangular. I started at the northern end and worked across the width with a hoe. As I loosened the earth, it turned a darker shade. It gave me gave great pleasure.
