Start of autumn: cold cicada chirps (1 of 5)

February 15th, 2009

start of autumn 11 of 15Despite the almost constant rain, we braved the weather and went for a walk on the beach. The previous high tide brought all sorts of creatures onto the shore. The water left a line of thick strap weeds (Philospora comosa) and hundreds of blue bottles (Physalia utriculus). As we walked along both the jellyfish’s and the seaweed’s swim bladders were popping under our feet. By the time we reached the Coledale bath, my feet were soaking wet, but it had stopped raining.
