We went to get our hair cut at a hairdresser’s up the road called, ‘Cut club’. Despite having an English ‘menu’ outside the shop, the hairdressers claimed they did not speak English. ‘Daijobu desu’ (it’s okay), I said, and continued to pursue the opportunity to practice my Japanese on something that really matters.
Redmond decided to enhance the colour of his red hair in sympathy with the seasons. The chief hairdresser/ colourist was a little timid as first but after some reassurance of ‘ii desu’ (that’s good), ‘daijobu desu’, and ‘o-kay desu’, he was soon happy enough to carry out the ‘hena trament’.
