« previous :Hand printing at home
December 8th, 2011
For this year’s christmas and new year cards, I experimented with some hand printing techniques recommended by Traci Bunkers in her book, Print and Stamp Lab: 52 Ideas for Handmade, Upcycled Print Tools. Some of her visuals can be a bit overwhelming but her suggestions on the house-hold and everday objects that can be used as printing tools quite clever. The results are not guaranteed but the mission of using all that is at hand without purchasing anything extra is compelling.
Here are what I used:
- A red and a blue inking pads
- Acrylic paints
- Left-over cut-outs of framing mats
- Wooden dowel and nails for making rollers
- Rubber bands
- String
- Erasers
- Phillips-head screws
- An allen key
- Bird-shaped fridge magnets
- Leaves from the Christmas bush, the Banksia, and the Maple tree
- Buttons
- Cotton reels
